The Austro-Hungarian Empire between 1773 and 1918 created military, land and various other maps and related documents, many of which survive to this day. Some of these have been digitized while others are only available in archives and libraries.
An important factor in genealogy is ensuring the location(s) of where ones ancestors lived is fully understood. If they were city dwellers, life was vastly different than a rural farmer.
