- Rose J Obara
June 25, 1923 - April 14, 2017
Miss Rose J. Obara, age 93, passed away on Good Friday, April 14, 2017 at her residence at the Sanctuary at Woodland, Brighton, following declining health. She was born in Clinton, Indiana, on June 25, 1923 to Anthony and Eva Obara. Rose never married and prior to her retirement, she was employed with Shell Oil in purchasing first in Chicago and then later in Houston. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton and a very social person. Rose enjoyed frequent communication with family throughout the U.S. and traveled extensively worldwide. She enjoyed reading, especially mysteries as well as playing bridge. Rose established friendships easily and in her final yeas among us, grew quite close to the staff and residents at the Sanctuary at Woodland. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: John (Beverly) Wilkerwicz, Patricia (Anthony) Milewski, Phyllis (Dennis) Williams, Thomas (Rose) Wilkerwicz and several great nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Joseph Obara and sister Genevieve Wilkerwicz. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Brighton, with Rev. Fr. Karl L. Pung celebrating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:30 A.M. A luncheon will then be held at the church in McCann Hall. Memorial contributions in Rose's name may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Brighton. God bless and keep you now, Aunt Rose. May she rest in peace.
