Majdan Church, circa 1910's
History of the Parish: Roman Catholic Parish of St Bartholomew the Apostle
The parish was separated from the parish of Cmolas (currently in the Rzeszów diocese), endowed by King August III, erected by the Bishop of Kraków, Kajetan Sołtyk, in 1765. The first church was a wooden chapel. The construction of the church under the invocation of St. Bartholomew began in 1761 and was completed after 30 years. The parish priest during the construction was Fr. Szymon Wątrobski. The church was solemnly consecrated by the Bishop of Przemyśl, A. Gołaszewski, on June 19, 1792.
The historic church, in the Baroque style, is a beautiful sacral building. It has two towers. One of them is a free-standing bell tower, through which the main entrance to the church square surrounded by a wall leads. The second tower rises above the main entrance to the church. The roof of the church is covered with galvanized sheet metal, the bell tower is copper. The external elevation is a noble, smooth plaster in white and yellow (1987). The interior architecture is rich in details. The main altar and two side altars and the pulpit are richly carved. Particularly valuable are the figure sculptures in the main altar: in the center Christ on the Cross, under the Cross the Holy Mother and St. John, on the sides of the altar sculptures of Moses and Zacharias. These sculptures come from the famous Lviv School of Maciej Polejowski. The polychrome from 1949, made by Fr. Wł. Lutecki and M. Stroński from Przemyśl, renovated by J. Steciński from Jarosław. There is a 15-voice organ, three bells in the tower.
Six new parishes were separated from the parish of Majdan Królewski over time. These are: Tarnowska Wola (1926), Krzątka (1952), Nowa Dęba (1957), Wola Rusinowska (1968), Huta Komorowska (1991), Komorów (1997).
In the years 1992-2002, a heating system was installed in the church, the roof was covered with copper, a new elevation was made, and pavement tiles were laid around the church. The parish has parish records from 1826.
