A New Chapter for Galicia Genealogy
Over the past two months, Galicia Genealogy has undergone a significant transformation.
What began as a growing index has evolved into a refined research platform — designed to feel less like a website and more like a modern archival system.
I’m excited to share what’s new.
Expanded Vital Record Searches

The Birth, Marriage, and Death databases have been fully refined with:
- Cleaner, modern search panels
- Improved year range filtering
- Exact match options for names
- View Details expansion within results
- Real-time “Available Years” indicators by parish or village
Each database now follows a unified design system — consistent typography, clean spacing, and improved usability across desktop and mobile. You can now search:
- Surname Search
- Birth Records
- Marriage Records
- Death Records
Search All Records — One Unified Entry Point

The new Search All Records page allows you to search across all indexed databases from a single starting point.
Instead of guessing where a record might appear, you can begin broadly — then refine.
For complex families and multi-generation research, this is a powerful upgrade.
Updated Record Coverage Map

The Record Coverage Map has also been released. You can now clearly see:
- Which parishes are indexed
- What record types are available
- Where research gaps still exist
Transparency matters in genealogy. This map makes it easy to understand what is currently searchable at Galicia Genealogy.
Introducing the Archivist Search Coach

Research doesn’t have to be overwhelming; The Archivist is now integrated as a research guide. If you’re unsure how to begin, what parish to search, or how to interpret results, the Archivist Search Coach can help you:
- Refine search strategies
- Understand Austrian-era record structures
- Navigate parish boundaries
- Think through brick walls
Guidance is now built in for all Databases.
218,000+ Indexed Records (Updated February 16)

Every record represents a person.
A baptism; a marriage; a burial.
A life that once moved through a Galician village.
There are now more than 218,000+ indexes now on Galicia Genealogy.
