March 2026 Updates: New Birth Indexes, Coverage Map Improvements, and a Look Ahead

Happy Friday, everyone — and as we head into Easter weekend, I wanted to share updates that took place in March on Galicia Genealogy.

This round of indexing adds substantial new birth coverage across multiple parishes and villages, including some especially exciting early ranges. The most striking example is Cmolas parish, where newly added birth years now reach back to 1674 in several villages. This kind of depth opens the door to tracing families across centuries and makes long-term parish reconstruction even more possible.

Just as important, the site tools behind the indexes have continued to grow. The Record Coverage Map now gives a much clearer picture of what years are currently indexed for births, marriages, and deaths across parishes and villages. The Birth Record Search remains the fastest way to work directly within birth indexes, and Search All Records continues to bring births, marriages, and deaths together in one place so you can connect life events more quickly.

New Birth Indexes Added

Below is the current list of newly added birth indexes (27,143 new entries) from this update.

Baranów Sandomierski Parish

Cmolas Parish

• Cmolas 1674-1695, 1700-1785, 1850, 1852, 1854, 1857, 1858, 1861-1867
• Mechowiec 1674-1695, 1700-1785
• Poręby Dymarskie 1674-1695, 1700-1785
• Zarębki 1674-1695, 1700-1785
• Other villages that once were part of Cmolas parish include Brzostowa Góra, Dęba, Huta Komorowska, Jagodnik, Komorów, Kosowy, Krzątka, Majdan, Ostrowy Tuszowskie, Siedlanka, Toporów, Trzęsówka for years 1674-1695, 1700-1785 (not every village can be found in each year)

The records for Brzezówka, Bukowiec, Domatków, Huta Przedborska, Świerczów, and Wola Domatkowska also include the “missing” years from the Archdiocesan Archive in Tarnów records, with these records indexed from the parish books themselves.
